About the event
CreativeLooe presents 'onYon', the inaugural production of DANCING BORDERS AWAY—a new dance platform led by choreographer Gocha (Maria Mendible) in partnership with Julie Felix MBE, Rachel Bond, and in close collaboration with Sheila Brock and Sam Day from Looe Community Academy.
Inspired by the historic 'Pink Onion Johnnies' and the traditional onion trade between Brittany and Britain, onYon explores how shared Celtic roots once connected cultures across the sea. The piece uses this rich heritage as a creative springboard for contemporary dance, celebrating cultural exchange and dissolving physical, cultural, and linguistic barriers through movement.
