Looe Academy Pupils Ceramic Fish Workshop

Our mission is to celebrate Looe’s rich maritime heritage through a vibrant public art project that brings together local creativity and the energy of our young people.

In collaboration with our local artist Gwen Vaughan, Ceramist and Sculptor and the town’s two schools, pupils will explore Looe’s cultural and seafaring past, creating ceramic fish that will form a key part of a festival, bringing the whole community together to celebrate creativity, heritage, and the sea.

The project aims to inspire pride in place, foster a sense of belonging, and open up future pathways—from traditional Cornish crafts and the fishing industry to media and the creative arts. Together, we hope to spark a revival of community spirit, enhance Looe’s visual landscape, and nurture a culture of creative enterprise rooted in local identity.
